- SHORT-CIRCUIT
a. TWO adjacent strands touching each other.
b. Any strand making contact with conventional fencing, supporting posts, gates etc.
- BREAK
a. Cutting of one or more strands
b. Loose or bad connections
Therefore, an ELECTRIC SECURITY ALARM FENCE must be constructed in such a way that the ‘Shorting’ or ‘Breaking’ (cutting) probability is as great as possible. It is therefore imperative that the system is configured correctly to ensure detection of these two conditions. One prime requirement is that strands that is expected to set off an alarm by means of a short circuit should always be installed vertically or straight-up – simply to ensure one is pressed down onto the next if something is placed on them (horizontal or angled strands cannot be expected to come together to cause a short circuit)
